A Poem: On Turmoiled Ground

On Turmoiled Ground

Child! Child! Rest your head upon pine bough drifts
Let moonlight guide dreams through rings of knitted web
Breathe a rhythm of lilac scented mourn
Awake! Wipe song of sorry gently from your parched lips

Child! Child! Dance swiftly across turmoiled ground
Haste not to greet the day unturned
Lay worries at bubbling river's bend
Sing! The heart beats for feathered friends

Child! Child! Hold tight to hope with fingers twisted
Remember youth from the depth of unfiltered sun
Place your bones in rocky soil upturned
Fight! For earth and reason are one

Summer....in poem

Summer

The sun defines the beacon of the seasons
Southern breezes whistle dreams into one's path
Notions once past return with strength and promise
Summer whispers the ripening of future

Cool grass beneath calloused soles speaks to spirit
Spirit responds by soaking earth with her tears
Those gone before seem nearer
Days presented on extended fingers

Mama wake me from sleep unslumbered
Lest I linger in intoxicated bliss
The fruits of a trifling journey
Laid bare upon the robin's chest

Dreams once dreamt return vivid
A spark reignited from a cold ember
Hope emerging through the silent creeping
The sweet, lingering scent of honeysuckle on the vine

Love Poems

Love’s Philosophy
By Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)

The fountains mingle with the river
And the rivers with the ocean,
The winds of heaven mix for ever
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one spirit meet and mingle.
Why not I with thine?—

See the mountains kiss high heaven
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdained its brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth
And the moonbeams kiss the sea:
What is all this sweet work worth
If thou kiss not me?

Happy Valentine's Day!
